Anxiety can creep up on you when you least expect it, but fret not; here’s how you can keep calm, stay collected, and carry on

If you’ve ever had an anxious moment, you’ll know the symptoms that come with it. Your heart beats faster, your stomach is churning and your palms start sweating like never before.

Anxiety comes in many forms, from recalling an embarrassing moment three years ago in the wee hours of the morning to feeling like you’re juggling multiple Internet tabs in your mind with an early 00’s song you barely remember banging in the background. But in the midst of it all, just remember that you’re not alone. While everyone’s experience can be different, we’ve all been there and can empathise. (You’re not alone!)

So don’t let your anxiety change the way you see yourself or others around you. Just take a deep breath and follow us on our journey of calming our minds and recalibrating our thoughts with these relaxing goodies…

Healing Crystals

Known for their healing properties, crystal (or crystal-infused) products are all the rage now. In the realm of healing crystals, which come in the form of face rollers and jewelry, rose quartz is a popular choice. Not only is it pretty in pink, it’s a sublime way to relieve tension. These babies are believed to restore harmony and offer comfort, so hold on to ‘em in stressful times!

Bath bombs

We all know a warm and luxurious bubble bath can wash off a day’s stress, but here’s a tip: Up the ante by adding a fizzy bath bomb to the mix. Our fave has to be the Lavender Bombshell from beauty brand Lush. Made of lavender, rose and chamomile, the comforting scents will have you feeling relaxed in no time.

Colouring books

Colouring has always been considered a calming activity and studies have shown that it can reduce anxiety and stress levels. If you haven’t tried it yet, grab an adult colouring book by illustrators like Johanna Basford and Millie Marotta, who are well known for their gorgeous, woodland-inspired drawings. Just take those colour pencils out and shade your worries away.

Scented candles

Transform your mood by filling your room with the lovely perfume of scented candles. With countless fragrances such as lavender, vanilla, citrus fruits and sandalwood to choose from, you can almost feel your body, mind and soul already relaxing just thinking about it.

Fidget cubes

When you’re anxious, the thoughts in your head can go faster than a 5G connection. Our suggestion? Calm your nerves and focus your mind with a fidget cube. Each side of the hand-held gadget is equipped with sensory tools such as a joystick, spinning disk, buttons and gears. It’ll likely keep you occupied long enough that you end up forgetting why you were even anxious to begin with.

Body massages

Now, a little R&R can go a long way, especially when your anxiety causes uncomfortable physical symptoms like muscle pains. Get rid of those knots in your body and soothe your senses by treating yourself to a spa day.

Lifestyle philosophy books

Sometimes, all you need to break free from the vicious cycle of anxiety is to pick up a good book… on philosophy. With numerous lifestyle mantras on how to find your inner calling, boost your confidence and live your best life, all you have to do is pick one that resonates with you.

Boyfriend body pillows

Did you know that hugging someone releases oxytocin and dopamine in your brain? The former is known as a “love hormone” that boosts feelings of intimacy, while the latter makes you feel good. Even if you’ve reached your “hug quota” of the day with your friends, you can always get cuddly for the night with a cozy Boyfriend body pillow. Snuggle up!

Essential oils

Aromatherapy is linked to mind and body wellbeing, and apart from working wonders on your skin, natural essential oils also help to lift your moods. Add a few drops to your diffuser – we recommend lavender, ylang ylang, bergamot or jasmine – and let it disperse your worries.

Face masks

After a stressful day, some TLC is much needed. If you can’t dedicate a full day to the spa, face masks are next in line as the perfect remedy. Shimmy into your comfy pajamas and put on a peaceful playlist as your skin soaks up all the goodness.
