Chocolates.

They’re a kind of comfort food for many, including women who are on their periods. Don’t ask me why but there’s something about chocolates that make us women crave it so much when we’re on our periods. Maybe it’s because the sugary treat would help to distract us from the pain and misery we’re feeling from all the cramps.

There are so many different kinds. There’s white chocolate, dark chocolate, chocolate with alcohol in it. So many to choose from. But as an avid chocolate-eater, you would probably realise that expensive chocolate tastes way better than cheap-ass chocolates.

Let me draw a comparison.

Chocolates from maybe Godiva would taste better than those chocolate gold coins that we got as a child from our teachers. I think we were all more fascinated by the fact that we’re eating ‘coins’ rather than enjoying the actual taste of it – which, in my opinion, tastes pretty artificial and weird.

So yes, most people would choose to go for expensive chocolates, because they’re good.

So good that they make people want to commit crimes.

Wait, what?

According to Business Insider, a 44-year-old man from Seattle wanted to rob a financial firm, so he broke into the office, but something way more important than money caught his attention.

That’s right.

It’s chocolates.

The Chocolate Thief

He moved to take the elevator up to the financial services office.

Do you have a friend who has a fake life on Instagram? This would explain why they’re living the “Instagram Life”: (Also remember to follow us on Instagram!)

This was it. He was about to do what he set out to do in the first place.

He shook the office door open and it was locked, as one would be during the after hours of work. Little did he know, though, that an employee was actually inside the office and watching his every move.

Noting that the doors were locked, he moved to another office and shifted a painting around. Probably finding other things he could possibly steal. And that was when he turned and found a whole array of gourmet chocolates and he simply couldn’t resist the temptation to eat them.

Perhaps he started with just one piece, thinking that it was probably going to be just like any other chocolate he has ever tasted.

Besides, one wouldn’t hurt, right?

But then he realised that it wasn’t and before he even knew it, his hand started reaching back to take another piece, and then another piece… Until…

It was all gone.

He probably looked at the time and realised that he side-tracked way too much, but noted that there was probably still enough time for a short nap because he was suffering from a food coma.

The Food Coma

The chocolate thief then proceeded to remove his shoes, jacket and watch before settling down on the couch and taking a nap.

The employee must have been so confused.

The employee later called for security and security probably woke him up afterwards, to which he tried to play it cool by fighting off security, claiming that “you’ll have to kill me to take me to jail”.

But the man, still suffering from his food coma, gave up moments after and was arrested for “suspicion of burglary and malicious mischief”. He was apparently also arrested for two other warrants.

Well, the chocolate thief set out to steal from the financial firm and he did achieve his agenda.

He gobbled down $65 worth of gourmet chocolates.

Hopefully, to him, that was worth being arrested over.
