5 North-East Line Stations To Close At 11PM On Fridays & Saturdays In November


North-East Line Stations Between Kovan To Punggol To Have Early Closures For Maintenance

If you stay around the north-east region of Singapore and take the MRT frequently, you should take note that 5 North-East line stations will be closing early in November.

According to The Straits Times on Thursday (17 Oct), 5 stations on the North-East Line – commonly known as Purple Line – will be closing at 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays in Nov.

The early closure is due to track maintenance and component replacement works for the Purple Line’s signaling system.

The Fridays and Saturdays affected are:

  • 1 and 2 Nov
  • 8 and 9 Nov
  • 15 and 16 Nov
  • 22 and 23 Nov

People staying between Kovan & Punggol take note

The 5 affected North-East line stations are:

  • Kovan
  • Hougang
  • Buangkok
  • Sengkang
  • Punggol

With 5 stations affected, this means that train services for the rest of the Purple Line will operate at longer intervals of about 9 minutes during this period.

Shuttle bus service on affected days

On the affected days, shuttle bus 21 will be operating to let commuters travelling between Serangoon & Punggol arrive at their destination.

This shuttle bus will come every 2 to 5 minutes and stop at bus stops or interchange near the affected MRT stations.

You’ll be paying the same fare for the shuttle bus service as the MRT.

Service hours will be extended

Operation time for southbound trains from Serangoon to Harbourfront will be extended to 12.15am. Similarly, LRT service for Sengkang will operate till 1.10am, and 1.15am for Punggol.
