Ocean Teabag is a Japanese company that specialises in making animal-shaped tea bags.
Its first product — a dolphin shaped tea bag — was launched via a crowdfunding campaign in 2015 by founder Takahashi Shota.
Recently, Ocean Teabag collaborated with a bookstore — Village Vanguard — to launch more animal-themed tea bags.
These designs include both land and sea animals such as pandas, frogs, cats, raccoons and more:
Once hot water is added, these animals seem to come alive.
Especially the sea creature-themed tea bags, like the octopus and frog, which appears to ‘swim’ in the tea.
The flavours of the tea have also been selected to match the design of the teabags.
For instance, the squid-shaped tea bag is filled with black Puér tea to resemble squid ink:
These tea bags cost 1,820 yen (S$23) for a pack of four, and are available on Ocean Teabag’s online shop. They ship to Singapore too, thankfully.
In the future, Ocean Teabag intends to expand its business by creating tea bags that glow.
