Country music legend Kenny Rogers dies at 81 – – News from Singapore, Asia and around the world


Country music legend Kenny Rogers has passed away aged 81, on Friday night (Mar. 21 SGT).

Died peacefully at home

Rogers’ family released a statement after his death, stating that he had passed away at home from natural causes, Los Angeles Times reported.

The statement read,

“The Rogers family is sad to announce that Kenny Rogers passed away last night.

Rogers passed away peacefully at home from natural causes under the care of hospice and surrounded by his family”.

At the height of his success, Rogers was a staple on the country-music charts and starred in a number of TV movies.

He was married five times and had five children.

Kenny Rogers fast food chain in Singapore

Rogers even fronted a world-wide fast food chain, Kenny Rogers Roasters, with outlets in the United States to Singapore.

The chicken-based restaurant chain was well-known for its dishes like Rotisserie Chicken, Roasted Honey Bourbon Baby Back Ribs, Mac & Cheese and Corn Muffin.

Lifestyle site 8 Days reported in August last year that Kenny Rogers Roasters recently made an opening comeback outlet at shopping mall Jem and will be certified Halal.
