Empty Rain Vortex In Jewel Looks Like A Glass, Perfect For A Giant
Ever since Covid-19 wreaked havoc worldwide, the once-packed Jewel Changi Airport has been missing its crowds.
Most of its retail stores have been closed since ‘Circuit Breaker’ started, and even the iconic Rain Vortex has run dry.
A Redditor posted a picture of the rare sight to the r/Singapore thread, eliciting a range of reactions from fellow Singaporeans.
While some felt the empty glass dome was a haunting, sad sight, others’ imaginations ran wild with what they dubbed the “Singaporean wet dream”: Vortex-sized .
We personally think it’s a fantastic idea, and took the liberty of drawing them to convince you too.
Vortex-sized
The one indulgence that unites us all surprisingly isn’t hawker fare or McDonald’s, but our hankering for the sweet, chewy indulgence only a cup of can give.
Most Singaporeans would kill to have a 1-litre cup of , and even more so a Rain Vortex-sized one.
Here are a few classic flavours we’ve imagined, drawn to scale in Rain Vortex.
First, we have the classic Milk Tea with Pearls.
The ‘Basic Boba’, everyone’s Old Reliable, what you get when you can’t be bothered to choose.
Next up, the hotshot, the ‘new kid on the block’, Brown Sugar Fresh Milk.
This is just a quick sketch, and we weren’t able to recreate the billowing swirls of caramelised goodness on Tiger Sugar cups, but you get the idea.
Then comes the ‘fake healthy’ drink of choice, the Matcha Azuki Latte.
Complete with a hearty serving of plump red beans to complement the bitter nuttiness of the matcha, and creamy milk.
Last, but not least, the Taro Milk Tea with Cheese Foam.
Just imagine the fluffy, savoury cheese enveloping your mouth as you take a sip of silky taro milk tea.

You might have to queue for a while, but anything’s worth it for , right?
Vortex still a dream
Sadly, you can’t get vortex-sized from Jewel Changi Airport, or anywhere in the world, but that doesn’t mean it’ll never be a reality.
