Jeanette Aw goes on self-imposed 14-day leave of absence after returning to S’pore from Beijing – – News from Singapore, Asia and around the world

On Feb. 3, local actress Jeanette Aw returned back to Singapore from Beijing and imposed a 14-day Leave of Absence (LOA) on herself.

In light of the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, LOA is a precautionary measure for people who have just returned to Singapore from mainland China.

These individuals are advised to stay at home and minimise contact with others.

Those with recent travel history to Hubei, however, will be quarantined.

In Beijing to film a drama

Aw was filming a Chinese drama in Beijing over the Chinese New Year period.

According to Lianhe Zaobao, friends and fans had been sending her masks, hand sanitisers and anti-bacterial wipes as there was a “serious shortage” when she was still in China.

Aw also told the Chinese daily that “everyone in China was working together to fight the epidemic” and that she was “safe at the moment”.

Updates on Instagram stories

So far, Aw has been updating her Instagram followers about her LOA experience on IG stories, showing snaps of the hand sanitisers she bought from Lazada, as well as the fruits which she had stocked up on.

Assures netizens that she is well

Previously, Aw had retorted at netizens who had asked her if she had “seen the doctor” or if she “need(s) to be quarantined”.

Aw stated that her LOA was optional and that she was “choosing to stay home to be responsible” to herself and others.

She also assured them that she was not ill.

Joanne Peh also on LOA

Apart from Aw, fellow local actress Joanne Peh is also on a self-imposed LOA after returning from Guangzhou on Feb. 1.

Peh had gone to Guangzhou with her actor-husband Qi Yuwu and their two children.

She previously shared with Mothership her thoughts on spending Chinese New Year in China amidst the coronavirus outbreak.
