Man Allegedly Caught Peeing Along HDB Corridor, Claims It Was An “Emergency”

Man Caught Peeing Along Corridor Claims As Toilets Elsewhere Were Closed

During the ‘Circuit Breaker’ when we spend the majority of the time at home, some of us might be taking the opportunity to clean our homes as well as the area outside of it.

One resident, however, allegedly found a man peeing along his corridor in the wee hours.

An altercation soon ensued and a clip of it was shared on the All Singapore Stuff Facebook page on Monday (25 May).

Here’s the clip:

Man caught peeing along corridor said he “couldn’t hold it in”

At the start of the clip, a man in a white shirt with a black mask was seen emerging from what appears to be the rubbish chute of an HDB block.

The resident filming from behind the gates proceeds to ask what he was doing there.

The man initially replied saying he was disposing things but later said it was an “emergency” after the resident filming accused him of urinating.

He also said that he had splashed water around the area, presumably to ‘dilute’ the stench.

The pair then exchanged heated words with the person filming continuing asking what the man was doing there and the other explaining that he “buay tahan” — Hokkein for “couldn’t hold it in”.

The man also explained that he lived on the floor below and was smoking at the staircase prior to the incident — something he acknowledged as “not allowed”.

When asked why he didn’t relief himself elsewhere, he said that toilets around the area were “closing”.

Netizens split on resident’s decision to film incident

The clip has since gone viral with over 1,000 shares and almost 590 comments at the time of this article.

One netizen pointed out that the resident shouldn’t have filmed the incident, as the alleged culprit would be embarrassed enough after he was caught.

Others felt that the man shouldn’t have urinated there in the first place, especially since he apparently stays just 1 floor down.

Up to $1,000 fine for anyone found urinating in public place

Anyone found urinating in a public space faces a maximum fine of $1,000 and up to $2,000 and $5,000 for their 2nd and subsequent offences respectively.

Smoking at an HDB stairwell is also against the law and anyone found guilty can be fined up to $1,000 if found guilty.

MS News has highlighted the incident to the police and will update this article once more information is known.

Hope the incident was settled amicably

Regardless of what happened, we hope both parties eventually settled the dispute amicably.

After all, if they are indeed neighbours living in the same block, it will certainly be in their interests to get along well with one another.
