Another month, another roundup of major shopping events. This May, vintage lovers will be treated to pop-ups, a mega sale before the Great Singapore Sale fever, Balinese-inspired home accessories, retro finds and toys and the return of a well-loved permanent market in the east.

CelebFest 2019: Ramadhan Edition

17 – 19 May
If you’re planning to finish your Raya shopping in one big sweep, you’ll probably want to start at CelebFest. With over 300 brands spread across three halls, you’ll definitely be spoilt for choice. It is touted to be the biggest shopping event this Ramadhan, after all. Gather your friends and family, select your fave baju and meet over 70 local and regional celebrities. A Vintage Tale’s first-anniversary party

Time flies when you’re having fun and A Vintage Tale’s first anniversary is a great example. They’re celebrating a successful first year with free vintage hairstyling by Immagine Italiana HairStylist, G&Ts and hits from the 60s. Get a first look at their collection of fun and colourful new arrivals from A Vintage Tale along with jewellery from ManualMentebijoux, curios from The Retro Factory and more vintage clothing from Dark Horse Vintage and Little Red Dot Vintage.

Dempsey Village Farmers Market @Siri House

18 May
Get to know all about local farmers, craftsmen and artisanal producers at the Dempsey Village Farmers Markets located at Siri House’s beautiful space. Bring your notebook, cash and appetite ‘cos there will be plenty of workshops, cookouts and cookoffs plus a pop-up booth featuring homemade salts and garnishes for your own cookout. Workshops go from $60 but entry to the market is free. Bring your own shopping bags, there’s going to be plenty to snap up.

Naiise Iconic Open House

18-20 May
Homegrown multi-label boutique Naiise is debuting its first duplex store at Jewel Changi Airport (which is quite a sight btw), bringing the best of local designers and brands to the east. Get a first look inside and check out cool features like the Gift Bar where you can personalise products and gifts or help designers discover their next big thing at ‘Launchpad’. There’s also a Tea Bar by Teapasar and a communal cafe to rest your legs and enjoy pastries, ice-cream and coffee.

The Social Space opens a second outlet at Marina One

Can we get a hallelujah? The Social Space is finally opening the doors to its second outlet and we can barely contain our excitement. Part cafe and part lifestyle boutique showcasing conscious brands, the new space will hold an expanded package-free refillery section – touted to be the largest one in the city – along with sustainable pop-ups, film screenings and workshops on the second floor. Ethical fashion and beauty boutique Zerrin, will be taking over the space for the next three months. Expect to find a curation of planet-friendly and sustainable fashion labels; local beauty and jewellery brands that give back to the environment. We dropped by on opening day and we’re in love.
