By2, a Singapore singing duo, recently made their showbiz comeback at a Chinese talent show, The Coming One, 11 years after their debut.

The duo went through a few tough years that were plagued by scandals that affected their music career.

At 27 years old, the twins took their chances now and made an impressive return in China with their first dance routine on the show.

Moving rendition of “Shallow”

Following the dance performance, the duo continued to prove their performing chops on stage with a cover of Shallow, a song by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper from the musical film, A Star Is Born.

The duo left viewers gobsmacked with their individual singing prowess, as well as their ability to harmonise.

The judges, which included Singapore’s own singing sensation, Stephanie Sun, were visibly moved by their rendition.

Never felt settled down the past 11 years

The episode also showed some behind-the-scenes footage of By2 practising prior to the performance.

During one of the practice sessions, the duo also shared more about the struggles they faced while chasing their dream overseas, which also revealed their close relationship.

During the show, Yumi, the younger sibling of the twins, shared that she has been depending on Miko, as she has no one else to rely on.

Miko will always protect her and put up a strong front no matter how tired she is, Yumi added.

Miko also recounted that both of them have been working hard overseas since they were 15 years old and they have not felt settled down before.

Their confessions to each other drove them both to tears and they promised to stand by each other forever.

In response, the duo responded with thanks on Chinese social media platform Weibo.

They also shared that they are determined to pursue their passion for music and will give it their all for future challenges.

Translation:

“Thank you for the support, grateful for the company!

When we felt helpless, we have your encouragement. When we felt isolated, we have your company. We have found our direction to move forward after these years of hardship, we will show our determination to pursue the music career that we love endlessly in this limited lifetime. We will give in our hundred per cent to face the challenges moving forward, so as to not let your guys down.”

Despite their stunning performance, the duo sealed second place in the show.

Many speculated that they will not win the competition as the winner of this China talent show has been fixed.

However, for those who are anticipating a surprise of any sort, it appears that By2 will be releasing a new album this year.

This will be their first album under their own label after their 10-year contract ended with Ocean Butterflies.
