When you’re having a bad day or a bad life in general, what you want is just for someone to show that they care.

To tell you that you matter.

And in Tiong Bahru, there’s a stall that does just that.

Meet Satin Satay

They’re a stall in Tiong Bahru market selling satay, nasi padang and kueh.

But beyond their usual business, stall owners and married couple, Zulkifli Abdul Halim and Shah Hida Anuar are also busy being heroes to people.

By launching a menu called the ‘Bad Day Menu’.

It All Started With The Customers

The couple explained that they’ve been operating a stall at Tiong Bahru market since November 2018.

And they have seen many people who frequent the area unable to afford even a single meal.

These people are typically the elderly and the differently-abled community.

The couple noticed them either buying small items that they can afford or hanging around the stall to ask for leftovers.

And That’s When They Decided To Do Something About It

They believe that everyone gets a bad day but no one should go hungry.

So they tried their best to give a full meal to individuals who can’t afford it.

Do you have a friend who’s always smiling? Watch this video and you’ll know why he or she is always so happy:

But there’s a limit to how much they can do and they want to bring the mini-project further, which was why they decided to come out and ask for participation from the public.

Monies donated by the members of the public will be used to fund food for the underprivileged at their stall.

The Bad Day Menu

The menu comes in two versions: the Lite and the Full meal

For 50 cents, one can get a ‘lite’ meal which consists of a noodle dish worth $3.50. For $1, one can get the ‘full’ meal which consists of rice, meat and vegetables worth S$5.

If you want to take part in this meaningful endeavour, you can do so here.

And if you can think of any other way to support this endeavour beside donating money, you can make your way down to the stall where the owners are more than happy to discuss with you.

And it’s not just donations.

The owners also encourage you to point people who need this bad day meal to their stall.
