Turns out, you can live like a crazy rich Asian – well, at least for the weekend – at one of these swish hotels in Singapore

Ran out of annual leave from travelling around the region? It’s time for a swanky staycay in Singapore. We love our beautiful, design-centric boutique hotels but there’s nothing like a little pampering session of stellar hospitality, modern facilities, impeccable services, stunning city views and luxury spas. From Sentosa to Changi Airport, Marina Bay to Orchard Road, these swish hotels are worth spending that extra dough.

St. Regis Singapore

Crystal chandeliers, exquisite private art collections, lush red designer fabrics…it’s hard not to marvel in the St. Regis’ grandiose set up. It is after all, one of the key luxe hotels in Orchard Road. Even North Korea’s leader Kim Jong Un couldn’t resist residing at St. Regis during his visit to the city. Of course, staying at the presidential suite might cost you an arm or leg but the grand deluxe room and penthouse stand on par. Oh, and the afternoon high-tea buffet at the Brasserie Les Saveurs (pictured above) is one of our personal favourites for a Sunday tea.

This beauty in Duxton Hill isn’t what you’d expect from the Six Senses group, renowned for its luxe resorts in exotic destinations. This newcomer to the staycay scene in Singapore is dark, with an oriental art deco feel, and in a pocket of Singapore that’s famous for its cafes and restaurants. Not an expansive beach or spa villa in sight – and we love it. Stay for the weekend: we recommend the killer cocktails in the bar, and don’t even think about straying from the hotel for dinner. Yellow Pot Restaurant does an amazing Chinese spread, and the breakfasts are amazing.

Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa

Staying at any hotel in Sentosa is like a mini vacay but Sofitel Sentosa Resort & Spa hits the spot with Parisian decor and touches of nature. The hotel is set atop a cliff above Tanjong Beach, so expect stunning 360-degree views of the South China Sea. Our pick: The Imperial Suite that’s strictly for the colour-inclined. Enjoy the east-meets-west interior, that doesn’t hold back on opulence.

Swissôtel has received accolades for its strategic location (don’t expect to find a room at the last minute during F1 season) and for being one of Southeast Asia’s tallest buildings (73 storeys, FYI). The rooms are a concoction of old-world charm and luxury, complete with a balcony to take in the beautiful harbour and sea views. Still not impressed? Maybe the 15 restaurants and bars, including the Michelin-starred JAAN (pictured above), Shanghai’s glamorous Bar Rouge and the newly opened contemporary grill, SKAI will pique your interest.

Step into a world of luxury that’s right in the heart of the cultural enclaves of Bugis and Bras Basah. We’ve fallen hard for the Heritage Wing where the hotel has preserved the style of shophouses from the 1920s. Expect elements of Singapore’s Peranakan culture including, timber floorings, silk wall coverings and ornate furnishings. (Check out its new sister property in Robertson Quay if the Quayside district is your thing – read more below.)

Word has it that Rihanna chose to stay at the Sentosa Beach Villas during her 2013 visit and we can see why. This idyllic retreat surrounded by tropical rainforests is located far away from the tourist-swarmed attractions so you have plenty of quiet time. We’ve got our eyes set on the beautiful free-form pool but of course, if you’re staying at the two-bedroom villa, have a splash in your personal lap pool. And psst, all beach villa guests can enjoy a pampering sesh at ESPA… for free.

Andaz’ two-tower building with a futuristic metallic honeycomb design (it’s hard not to miss) already won our hearts but there’s more inside. The first Andaz Hotel in Southeast Asia exudes an understated charm and draws inspiration from Singapore’s iconic shophouses. Also, expect killer views of the harbour or city skyline via floor-to-ceiling windows in all rooms. And you won’t go hungry at this hotel. Andaz has five restaurants, including Mr Stork, a rooftop bar on the 39th storey that has teepee huts for you to take off your shoes and unwind.

MBS comes in at the top of our list for the IT factor and the location. Its famous infinity pool at Marina Bay Sands Hotel has seen countless celebrities frolicking in it. Perched 57 floors atop the iconic building, it feels like you’re swimming on the edge of the world. If you prefer to party while you’re at it, head up to the SkyPark where you’ll find Ce La Vi, a nightclub-slash-restaurant that serves up a great array of cocktails and music.
