Acuvue Contact Lenses In SG Recalled Due To ‘Contamination’, Buyers Urged To Return Products

Johnson & Johnson Recalls ‘1-Day Acuvue Moist Contact Lenses For Astigmatism’

Myopia is common in Singapore and many rely on contact lenses for greater convenience in their daily lives.

However, contact lenses can pose a risk to the eyes especially if the lenses are found with contaminants.

In a latest update to their safety information, Johnson & Johnson Vision announced that they’ve recalled six batches of ‘1-day Acuvue Moist for Astigmatism’.

This came after news that foreign particles were allegedly found on the lenses in other countries.

Lenses no longer available for sale

Although there have been no complaints in Singapore, the company has done a voluntary recall of the lenses. This is to ensure the safety of customers and to maintain their quality standards.

Only up to 272 boxes are affected, and the rest of Acuvue’s contact lenses “can continue to be used with confidence”.

Acuvue has stated that they are cooperating with Health Sciences Authority, Singapore Optometric Association, and Eye Care Professionals.
