Suzuki, Subaru, Daihatsu, Toyota, and Mazda have reached an agreement to jointly develop technical specifications for next generation vehicle communications devices and to promote the common use of these communications systems. These services will be standardised for the provision of safer and more convenient connected services, in addition to creating new appeal and value.
Within the field of Connected, Autonomous/Automated, Shared, and Electric technology, rapid advances are being made in the Connected domain, in relation to the communications and data aspects of technology and business, which include cloud services, Big Data, and Artifical Intelligence.
These circumstances allow automotive companies to provide safer and more convenient connected services to customers. In addition, the presence of common infrastructure allows each company to focus more on the development of in-house applications and services.
Suzuki, Subaru, Daihatsu, and Mazda will incorporate their own technologies into the base vehicle communications technologies developed by Toyota, and build systems for their next generation cars with common connection specifications between vehicles and communication centres. It will therefore be possible to provide more convenient connected services to customers, such as clearer calls between customers and operators and faster connection speeds. At the same time, it will be possible to reduce the development burdens of each participating company and simplify system operations and version upgrades.
