A Year One student from Raffles Institution (RI) was tested positive for Covid-19 on Feb. 27, 2020.
One-day suspension for RI and MOE language centre
As such, a one-day suspension of school for all students has been announced, to conduct a thorough cleaning and disinfecting of the school compound on Friday (Feb. 28).
The MOE Language Centre at Bishan will also be suspended on Friday, as the student had attended a class at the centre before falling ill on Feb. 21.
Both RI and the MOE Language Centre will resume classes on Monday (Mar. 2).
LOAs to be issued
According to a news release by the Ministry of Education (MOE), a 14-day Leave of Absence (LOA) will be issued to students, teachers and staff who had recently come into contact with the student.
Contact tracing is on-going.
There will also be a suspension of CCAs for Year 1 to 6 in RI for two weeks.
These measures will provide another layer of protection for RI, in addition to the earlier precautionary measures that MOE had announced for the entire school system.
RI has previously taken precautionary measures instructed by MOE, such as the suspension of assemblies, staggering of recess times and suspension of all external school activities.
