We can almost hear the glorious sounds of Formula One cars tearing up the Marina Bay street circuit. Yes, the exhilarating Singapore Grand Prix 2019 will be steering into town once again from 20 – 22 September. Singapore has been hosting the world’s most popular night race for 11 years – and yet, some of us still scratch our heads when it comes to ticket pricing or pre and post-event activities. Hell, some have never even had the chance to get in on the action. Well, this could be your year.
Newbie or not, we give you the lowdown on all the essentials – right from ticket prices to the massive concert lineup; special dining deals to the best hotels to stay at during the Singapore Grand Prix 2019.
So…what’s the race about?
First thing’s first, let’s get down to basics. For the uninitiated, the track length is 5.065km (comprising of 23 turns) and drivers will have to complete a whopping 61 laps. Lewis Hamilton emerged as last year’s winner and is officially tied with Sebastian Vettel for the most number of wins (four) since F1 first landed in Singapore back in 2008.
Off-track entertainment FTW
Many head down to F1 solely for the entertainment lineup. It’s no wonder why the stage sees a stellar lineup of artists and musicians every year. This year’s edition has gone above and beyond the previous years with over 100 hours worth of non-stop performances. From international acts like RHCP, Muse and Gwen Stefani to rising stars such as Raja Kumari, they’ve really hit the mark.

Extra AF after-parties and full-on blowouts
Your energy levels are running high and you’ve got plenty of fuel left in the tank. What do you do? Dance the night away at an after-party, of course! Who knows? You might want to snap up a good hotel room stat cos’ these babies sell like hotcakes during the F1 season – all the better if your room serves up an insane view along with delish dining options in the vicinity. Whether you’re flying in from abroad or just craving to be up close with the revving engines, hotel stays around the circuit will do no wrong.
Now, about those F1 tickets…
Frankly, the F1 ticket categories and pricing may seem a tad overwhelming. Fear not, we’ve broken it down for you.
This year, see the race in a new light at the swanky new triple-level viewing deck, The Cube (from $3500 for three days; $750 for a single day). Get unobstructed VIP views of the concerts from the deck, along with free-flow tipples and canapés. But if you’re here for the race, the Upper Deck (from $2448 for a single day) is the place to be. Located on the upper level of Boardwalk, you’ll get a close-up of cars exiting the Pit Lane.
For hardcore fans looking experience the thrill first hand, there’s really no better ticket than the Pit Grandstand (from $1088 for adults and $638 for children under 16). Apart from access to all four zones, you can witness the drivers tackle the final corner at 220km/h before they speed towards the chequered flag. What’s more, you’ll also be able to catch the spectacular fireworks at the end of the race. Only looking to get in on race day action? There’s also a single day Pit Grandstand ticket (priced at $888).
Watching drivers jostle off the grind results in some people saying the start of the race is filled with drama and we can’t disagree with that. That’s why the Turn 1 Grandstand and Turn 2 Grandstand tickets (booth $1288 for all days and access to every zone) seem like an ideal option. Who can ever forget Felipe Massa’s Ferrari sustaining a puncture in the first lap of 2012’s incident-packed race, following the collision with Vitaly Petrov’s Caterham?
Too excited to sit still? The Premier Walkabout (from $448 for three days; from $138 for a single day) is for you. Enjoy your freedom to roam from bleacher to bleacher and catch the scintillating action from all over the track. You’ll get access to all zones too, so you can indulge in an array of entertainment plus food and beverage options. In case you’re wondering, yes, there’s a premier walkabout for just Sunday. It starts at $388 so it’s worth your money to go for the three-day pass.
